Fort Bragg’s climate is cool and remarkably stable. It rarely gets hot, and it rarely freezes. What changes is the fog, the rain and what you can see.

Annual events
The Mendocino Coast Whale Festival usually runs in March. Paul Bunyan Days is a long-running Fort Bragg tradition around Labor Day, and a salmon barbecue has often been held at Noyo Harbor in summer. Dates change, so confirm them locally.
Summer fog
While inland California bakes, cool ocean air often blankets this coast. Mornings can be grey, with afternoons clearing, or not. Drive 20 minutes inland and it may be 30 degrees warmer. Pack accordingly.
Winter storms
Heavy Pacific storms bring spectacular surf, and can also bring downed trees and closed roads. Keep your plans flexible, and stay well back from the waves.
